Pasig City Science High School was established in 2005 under the administration of former Pasig City Mayor Soledad Eusebio, wife of former Mayor Vicente Eusebio and mother of Mayor Roberto Eusebio. The school was formerly housed at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig. After a year of operation at the Pamantasan, the school moved to its own building adjacent to the Rainforest Park in Barangay Maybunga.

Pasig, Taguig floods may remain for one more month

Residents of Pasig and Taguig cities will have to endure one more month of floods due to Laguna de Bay’s elevated water level, officials said.

In an interview with GMANews.TV on Thursday, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Bayani Fernando said pumping stations could do nothing to lower the floodwater level in parts of Pasig City.

Pasig City Mayor Bobby Eusebio said at least seven out of the city’s 30 barangays still suffer from floods that can sometimes reach waist-level. These barangays include Pinagbuhatan, Bambang, Palatiw, Santo Tomas, Sagad, Kalawaan, and Sumilang.

Eusebio dismissed speculation that drainage problems prevent the floods caused by tropical storm “Ondoy” from subsiding. Read more…

Our Lady of Peace-EDSA Shrine

The Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace, Our Lady of EDSA, or more popularly, the EDSA Shrine is a small church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila located at the intersection of Ortigas Avenue and Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Quezon City. The shrine, built in 1989 originally to commemorate the memories of the People Power Revolution and its peaceful outcome, stands on the site of two peaceful demonstrations that toppled Philippine presidents Ferdinand Marcos (the People Power Revolution or EDSA I) and Joseph Estrada (the EDSA Revolution of 2001 or EDSA II). It is officially called the “Shrine of Mary, Queen of Peace” or “Our Lady of Peace Quasi-Parish”, although these names are seldom used.

The EDSA Shrine is part of the Ortigas Center, a complex of office buildings and commercial centers that occupy large tracts of land in portions of Quezon City, Mandaluyong City, and Pasig City.

The present rector of EDSA Shrine is Rev. Fr. Leo Nilo Mangussad, following the previous pastors: Most Rev. Socrates Villegas (1989 to 2004) and Rev. Fr. Victor Apacible (2004 to 2008). Fr. Nilo is assisted by his vice-rector, Rev. Fr. Carlos Reyes.
